San Diego, California Sunday, April 23, 2006
The skies in southern California finally cleared after a cool night of rain. The weather was perfect for the event. This was the first time that all four buses of the Merrymaker Caravan were together..... the Merrymaker from Canada, the Hippie bus from California, and the two Peacemakers were lined up along the curb with doors open to the Green. We also had a van (painted the same color scheme as the Peacemakers) that will go ahead of the caravan to make arrangements for the buses.
Amongst the many other vendors we had four booths set up. The Maté Factor (specializing in a Brazilian herb known as "Maté" pronounced mah' tay), the apple cider press, fresh, organic produce from the Morning Star Ranch and the Common Sense Soap and Body Care Products booth. The vendors were busy all day.... especially the cider booth which drew crowds of people watching the golden juice flow from the hand-cranked press.
OFFERING REFRESHING DRINKS AND FRIENDSHIP
The day was full of sincere conversations. It seems people are a little less optimistic about the fate of Mother Earth as opposed to thirty years ago, and are open to discussion of what is the real solution. Many see the bad fruit of public education, television and computers and the resulting disrespect in their children. We met many "baby-boomers" willing to admit the future does not look as "bright" as we once had hoped. Hopefully we stirred some still-tender hearts.
BRINGING EVERYONE IN TO OUR CIRCLE DANCING
We were very thankful for the side door (towards the rear of the bus) on Peacemaker II as people came on the bus all day long. We were able to welcome visitors up the side door steps and have them exit by the front door thus avoiding too many "body jams" as it was quite crowded. Literally hundreds of people passed through the buses. We were able to personally invite people to the Festival at the Morning Star Ranch on Sunday, April 30 th . If you are reading this and received an invitation, please come on Sunday (noon to sundown). If you didn't receive an invitation you are more than welcome to come also...we will offer a glimpse of the rich life we live together and there will be plenty of food, music and dancing. It will be a wonderfully festive time.
Next stop for the Merrymakers....L.A. .....the Azusa Street Revival.... And who knows where else?
